About the exhibition
Bukan Tentang Sampah (It Is Not About Waste) explores the
everyday moments in which we use, value and ultimately discard plastic
materials. It focuses on the act of throwing something away as a
decision that shapes the entire system around us. The exhibition
invites you to see disposal as an act of passing on. Household waste
is not an endpoint, but part of a continuous cycle shaped by our
habits at home, our choice as consumers, as the ways communities
organize themselves. Every piece of plastic keeps value in motion
towards a cleaner city, a fairer chain and a future in which throwing
something away becomes the beginning of a value, not the end.
About the program
What if.. Waste could help improve lives? Through their Co/Lab
program, Dutch Foundation is collaborating with Wahu (WAste HUbs) to
explore new ways to improve the waste collection system in Indonesia.
The program brings together Dutch designers Mayra Kapteijn and Noud
Sleumer with Indonesian designers Ade Amelia and Dhania Yasmin to
research and explore how communities and social incentives can create
a more sustainable and efficient material management system.
