Football is more than just what happens on the pitch. It is history, culture, identity and the stories that connect generations across the world. This weekend we invite you to an evening that brings those stories to life, starting with a rarely told chapter of football history: Indonesia’s journey to the 1938 World Cup, when the nation was still known as the Dutch East Indies. Through a special lecture by sports historian Jurryt van de Vooren, we revisit this remarkable moment and reflect on its place in football history today. ⚽️
From there, the conversation continues with an engaging panel featuring Coach Justin, Sam van Raalte and Sicilia Setiawan, moderated by Aditya Hadi Pratama from The Jakarta Post. Together, we’ll explore the evolution of the World Cup, the culture surrounding the game, and the powerful role football plays in shaping social impact and life skills for future generations.
And because football is also about fun and community, the evening will end with a lively pub quiz hosted by Girl of the Match, where competition, laughter, snacks and drinks come together under the White Tent.
Expect stories you’ve never heard, conversations you won’t forget, and a celebration of the beautiful game in all its forms.
Let’s talk football: past, present & future.
