This event highlighted the ongoing tribute to R.A. Kartini, a pioneering figure in Indonesia’s struggle for women’s rights.
On August 19, a remarkable celebration of history and gender equality unfolded as the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia, together with the Dutch National Archives and Leiden University Library, hosted the exhibition and seminar titled “Kartini’s World: A Perspective and Legacy on Equality.”
This event highlighted the ongoing tribute to R.A. Kartini, a pioneering figure in Indonesia’s struggle for women’s rights. It followed the landmark joint inscription of “Kartini’s Letters and Archive: The Struggle for Gender Equality” into UNESCO’s Memory of the World—a prestigious recognition affirming Kartini’s enduring influence on gender equality.
The inscription itself is a testament to the deep collaboration between the National Archives of Indonesia, the Dutch National Archives, and Leiden University. This partnership reflects the vibrant and ongoing bilateral archival cooperation between Indonesia and the Netherlands, preserving shared histories while inspiring future generations.
