Some primary strengths of the Hungarian textile industry are good industrial traditions compared to low wages, a central geographical position on the European continent, access to the EU single market, good infrastructure and logistics, and the presence of innovation. Conversely, the weaknesses lie with a lack of capital, outdated technology, an aging workforce, and the abovementioned dependence on external markets.

Commissioned by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Budapest, the ‘HUN-REN Centre for Economic and Regional Studies’ has conducted a market study. The results can be requested free of charge here.

Enkele sterke punten zijn de goede industriële kennis tegenover relatief lage lonen, een goede ligging in Centraal-Europa, toegang tot de Europese markt, goede infrastructuur en logistiek, en de aanwezigheid van innovatie. Daartegenover liggen de zwakke punten bij de schaarste van bedrijfskapitaal, verouderde technologie, vergrijzing in de beroepsbevolking, en de bovengenoemde afhankelijkheid van externe markten.
