Migration and Peace and security

Social stability by protecting individuals

The Netherlands and Egypt work on regional stability and reducing levels of violence and fear. Our common goal is to protect people on the move, to decrease human trafficking and the smuggling of migrants.

Countering human trafficking

The Netherlands, IOM Egypt and the Egyptian government jointly work on countering human trafficking, by building capacity and raising awareness for relevant national stakeholders and host communities. This partnership contributes to decreasing irregular migration and enhancing protection of people on the move.

PROSPECTS

Introducing to you the team working on the PROSPECTS Partnership from The Hague and our embassies in Egypt, Ethiopia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Sudan, and Uganda.

The Netherlands, UNHCR, UNICEF, ILO, IFC and the World Bank are working together in Egypt within the framework of PROSPECTS, an international partnership programme. The Partnership aims to expand education and socio-economic opportunities for refugees, asylum seekers and host communities. These efforts contribute to achieve better protection of these vulnerable people.

Multinational Force and Observers

The Netherlands supports regional efforts in bringing peace and stability. Over 100 service members  are added to the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) in the Sinai Peninsula, which include monitoring Egypt’s borders. The partnership with MFO contributes to encouraging regional stability and countering violent extremism.
