OPEN CALL CULTURAL CONNECTIONS 2026 - Brazil
OPEN CALL CULTURAL CONNECTIONS 2026
Applications for the Open Call Cultural Connections 2026 are now open.
To facilitate international cooperation between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Brazil in the cultural field, the Embassy and the Consulates General of the Netherlands invite cultural institutions, artists, cultural professionals, producers, and collectives to submit proposals aimed at fostering cultural exchange between the two countries.
Looking back, moving forward
The bond between the Netherlands and Brazil is a dynamic,
centuries-old friendship that continues to evolve through shared
values of curiosity and resilience. On the 2nd of April 1826, Mr.
Gerardus Brender à Brandis set foot in Rio de Janeiro as first Dutch
diplomatic representative in Brazil. Two years later, in 1828, the
Netherlands and Brazil signed their first bilateral friendship treaty.
2026 is the year that we both start our joint celebration of 200 years
of bilateral relations and friendship. This friendship has been
developed and shaped over two centuries, with beautiful and less
beautiful chapters, requiring dedication and hard work to grow closer
despite the Atlantic Ocean separating our worlds. This anniversary is
an opportunity to look back on our shared journey to find the seeds of
our cooperation, but above all, to look ahead to what the next 200
years of friendship will bring us in a future defined by creativity
and innovation.
This open call invites artists and designers to
explore the concept of this specific friendship as a bridge between
two worlds.
We seek projects that transcend traditional
boundaries, utilising Dutch expertise in design, sustainability, and
technology to spark new dialogues within the Brazilian landscape. This
is a celebration of what happens when two cultures don't just coexist
but create together.
