News item | 10-12-2025 | 16:22

Applications are now open for the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands’ 2026 Human Rights Fund

Human rights are the pillars of a democracy in which every person matters. The promotion and protection of human rights worldwide is a priority of the foreign policy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. With this in mind, the Human Rights Fund of the Kingdom of the Netherlands was established to provide grants to organizations that work to advance human rights within the priority areas defined by the Dutch government.

For 2026, these priorities consist of:

• Human rights defenders (including all sub-groups of human rights defenders, such as women and girls, and those working in the areas of security, rule of law, and organized crime)
• Equal rights for LGBTQIA+ persons

The Fund is available to private legal entities (including individual microentrepreneurs and micro and small enterprises) with a valid CNPJ, international organizations, government institutions (at the federal or state level), and autonomous government agencies.

  • The project must begin between April 1, 2026 and December 1, 2026.

The Embassy may provide financial support for projects in three categories:

  • projects with a minimum duration of 12 months, with a maximum funding amount of R$ 90,000;
  • projects with a duration of 24 months, with a maximum funding amount of R$ 150,000;
  • projects with a duration of 36 months, with a maximum funding amount of R$ 180,000.
