Conference Liaison Officer - Belém - Brazil
Job Opportunity – Conference Liaison Officer (Temporary)
Do you want to be part of the preparations for the Netherlands’ participation in COP30 in Belém?
- The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Brasilia is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Logistical & Organisational Conference Liaison Officer for a temporary assignment of a maximum of 7 months, in light of the UNFCCC COP30 on climate change.
- You will play a vital role in providing advisory, organisational and logistical support in the run-up to and during COP30 in Belém, Pará.
- The Embassy has no local presence in Belém apart from an honorary consul. There is a need for a locally present support centre for a multitude of advisory and support tasks in light of preparing participation at COP30. Without a local antenna and organisational support, the Embassy will have a difficult time in enabling a successful participation of the Netherlands in the conference.
Your tasks will include:
-
Finding and negotiating with local service providers (i.e. translation, transportation).
-
Seeking appropriate locations for (formal) events and for accommodation for the Netherlands’ delegation.
-
Organisational advice.
-
Logistical guidance.
-
Supporting the Netherlands’ delegation, including logistics and organisational assistance (indications where to go and where not to go in the city; making reservations at i.e. restaurants etc.).
-
Contributing to information gathering and communication efforts (possibly with (state) authorities).
We're looking for someone with the following characteristics:
-
Has a strong educational background (mid-professional level = “ensino superior”) and 3-4 years of relevant work experience.
-
Preferably having already worked in similar situations (for example: (international) conferences, real estate, tourism).
-
Has excellent communication skills in English and Portuguese. Dutch is an added advantage.
-
Is a resident of Belém, Pará and has a good local network.
-
Is able to operate relatively independently.
-
Can adapt to different situations in a challenging environment.
-
A flexible, proactive, and organized approach to work.
- Proficiency in common office software (Windows, Word, Excel, etc.) and social media.
What we offer:
- Exposure to the workings of an international climate conference: COP30.
- Work in a dynamic and international environment.
- Gain valuable organisational experience in diplomacy and international relations.
- To make a difference by creating the best logistical conditions and support for the Netherlands’ participation.
- Contract: temporary local (CLT) contract with the Embassy.
- Working hours: starting part-time and increasing to full time (40 hours/week) closer to the conference.
- Salary range (gross amounts for full time): min. BRL 15.074 – max. BRL 22.611 (local pay scale 8), market competitive, actual net-income dependent on relevant work experience and number of hours.
