Netherlands Innovation Attaché Network - Brazil
Science, Technology and Innovation in Brazil
The Netherlands diplomatic network in Brazil fosters international cooperation between governments, businesses and knowledge institutes in the fields of science, technology and innovation.
International cooperation is vital to ensuring high-quality research. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW), with a focus on international cooperation on a strategic level, has created a network of Education and Science Attachés, which includes Brazil. Furthermore, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK) has appointed a Clean Energy and Materials Advisor. Both support knowledge institutes and other organizations with their international scientific ambitions, contributing to solving major societal challenges such as climate change and the energy and materials transition.
The Netherlands and Brazil have a long history in collaborating in research and innovation activities in many areas of societal relevance. With the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2011 during the first Joint Committee Meeting on Science, Technology and Innovation, the Brazilian and Dutch governments have formalised their government-to-government collaboration, giving a boost to inspiring projects and collaborations. Read more about this in the two booklets (download available on the bottom of this page). These stories are an inspiration and important building blocks in the scientific collaboration between the Netherlands and Brazil.
