The Kingdom of the Netherlands is represented in Australia by the embassy in Canberra, the consulate-general in Sydney and five honorary consuls in the state capitals. The main areas of focus of the Dutch diplomatic mission in Australia are bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the field of security policy, bilateral and global economic policy, promotion of trade and investment, cooperation on shared cultural heritage and consular services to Dutch citizens. The embassy in Canberra and the consulate-general in Sydney function as a single team and coordinate their activities on a daily basis. There is a total of 25 staff members. What will you be doing?
In this multifaceted position, you will provide broad support in the areas of management, administration, logistics and facilities. You will assist the police liaison officer (police attaché) and, where necessary, other embassy staff with secretarial tasks such as diary management, correspondence, reporting and preparing incoming missions, business trips and events. In the absence of the police liaison officer, you will take over part of his duties and handle simple requests independently. You will act as the point of contact for internal police contacts with the Netherlands and external contacts with Australian and Dutch authorities. You will also monitor the progress of agreements and projects. In
everything you do, you will take confidentiality and administrative sensitivities into
account. Traveling can be part of the job.

What are your strengths and is your background?
You have completed secondary education (year 12 certficate) or have equivalent work and thinking skills, preferably supplemented with at least five years of relevant experience in a similar position. You are a real jack-of-all-trades: service- riented, presentable and flexible. You are accurate, organizationally sensitive and have good planning, organizational and communication skills – in both Dutch and English. You can work independently and feel comfortable in a diplomatic/ environment. Submission of a recent certificate of good conduct is part of the procedure.

What do we offer?
We offer a varied full-time position (38 hours per week) in an international and socially relevant working environment, combining secretarial, organizational and facility management tasks. You will be part of a professional and close-knit team within the Dutch representation in Canberra. The gross salary starts from AUD 7,313.00 per month, depending on relevant experience and grading. The terms of employment are in accordance with the CAO Rijk (Collective Labour Agreement for the Central Government in the Netherlands) and local Australian regulations.
