Hans Sandee has been ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Iraq since 2022.

 

Curriculum vitae of J.L.  (Hans) Sandee

Hans Sandee was born on 17 January 1964 in the city of Goes, The Netherlands.

He studied both history (specialization international relations) and law (specialization international and European law) at the State University in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

Hans Sandee joined the Dutch diplomatic service in 1990. In the lower ranks, he worked both at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague (Security Policy Department, European Department) and abroad (Lisbon, Brussels, Warsaw).

In 2003, he was appointed head of the Security and Defense Policy Division. Subsequently he was deputy head of mission at the Dutch Embassy in Bucharest, Romania.

In 2010, Hans Sandee became head of the Migration and Asylum Division in The Hague.

In 2014, he was appointed as Netherlands ambassador to Libya in 2014.

In 2016, he became Consul General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates and was appointed as the Netherlands Commissioner General for the Dubai EXPO 2020.    

Since September 2021, Hans was the coordinator at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation for Invest International and was the acting project manager for the Dubai Expo 2020. 

Hans Sandee was appointed as ambassador to Iraq in April 2022, and he arrived in Iraq in September 2023. On 2 October 2023 he presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Iraq.

Hans Sandee is married and has two children.
His hobbies include reading, golf, tennis, and listening to music.
