The Netherlands Innovation Network in China stimulates international cooperation between Dutch and Chinese companies, research institutes and public authorities in the fields of innovation and technology. Our activities help implement the international knowledge and innovation agenda of the Dutch government. Our network in China has a long-term agenda focused on innovation in areas such as XXX.
Process technologies
China has made significant progress in developing bio-based materials and integrating them into the circular economy. Their policies are encouraging the use of bio-materials to replace fossil fuels and reduce carbon emissions. However, challenges remain in ensuring stable raw material supplies and developing market applications for these materials.
Energy materials
The Netherlands is keen to become a major player in the next generation of batteries. In line with this, the Netherlands Innovation Network China and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), with strong and close collaboration of the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) organised an innovation mission to China focused on batteries. This fact-finding mission aimed to explore China’s current activities in battery development and innovation, the global leader in this field, and to develop strategies for future collaboration.
AI and Data
China’s AI ecosystem is highly competitive, consisting not only of Big Tech firms such as Alibaba and Baidu but also of fast-growing AI unicorns like Zhipu AI and Moonshot, alongside innovative startups like DeepSeek, Manus and Modelbest. At the same time a large portion of the world’s top AI talent comes from China. DeepSeek, stands out within China’s AI landscape due to its research-driven, flat organisational structure, which differs from the more commercially oriented approaches of its competitors.
