Agri-food: the Netherlands and your country or region

Agricultural production is also the backbone of Vietnam’s economy, making Vietnam an important agriculture production country in the world and an economic priority country for the Netherlands. Our two countries have been cooperating on sustainable agricultural development for years. In 2014, the two countries signed a Strategic Partnership Arrangement (SPA) in the field of sustainable agriculture and food security. This gave us a framework for long-term bilateral cooperation on crop production, horticulture, aquaculture, fisheries and livestock breeding.

In our cooperation we stress the importance of transferring agricultural knowledge and technology, in order to overcome the food security and food safety challenges in Vietnam. Working closely together, Vietnam and The Netherlands add value to a more varied, safer and healthier food supply, produced in a sustainable way with respect to nature and society. The agricultural value chain will become more efficient, leading to a reduction of food losses, and increase of productivity and profitability.
