Before being accredited as Ambassador in Juba on 24th of August 2022, Marjan Schippers was Deputy Head of Mission at the Netherlands Embassy in Bamako, Mali. In her diplomatic career spanning over 27 years, she held several positions, such as deputy Director International Trade Policy and Economic Governance at the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign affairs, Head of International Cooperation at the Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels and advisor G20 at the Prime Minister’s office. Since joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994, she served in various positions in the department, and held postings in Kuala Lumpur and Vancouver.

2022 – present Ambassador to South Sudan in Juba.
2020 – 2022 Deputy Ambassador to Mali in Bamako.
2017 – 2020 Strategist at the European Integration Directorate.
2014 – 2017 Deputy Director at the International Market Organization and Trade Policy Department.
2011 – 2014 Head of International Cooperation department at the Permanent Representation of the Netherlands to the European Union in Brussels.
