Department Innovation, Investment and Trade

The department Innovation, Investment and Trade represents the economic interests of the Netherlands in Israel and promotes the presence of the Dutch business community at the Israeli market. The various expertises within the department work together functionally, to offer optimal service to companies, knowledge institutions, and governments. Public diplomacy is actively used to support this.

Cooperation in the area of bilateral innovation, foreign investment and international business is promoted through intensive contacts with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Economic Affairs and Climate, Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. In addition, the Embassy maintains an extensive network of private and public organizations, including the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.

1. Strengthening the Dutch innovation capacity through increased cooperation between the Netherlands and Israel in the field of innovation, particularly in the top sectors High Tech Systems and Materials (HTSM, in particular photonics, nanotechnology, cyber security, fintech, smart materials) and Life Sciences & Health (LSH).
2. Interest Israeli companies in establishing in the Netherlands and subsequently accompanying them in the establishment process, thereby contributing to the creation of employment, the strengthening of the competitiveness of the Netherlands and the transfer of knowledge.
3. Promoting business with Israel, preferably in the top sectors (e.g. Agri & Food, Creative Industry, Energy, Logistics and LSH).

1. Monitoring relevant trends and developments, indicating national macroeconomic developments and national policy, political-economic analysis, and disseminating policy positions.
2. Answering questions, providing tailor-made information about the Israeli market (market opportunities, potential business partners, tenders, policies and regulations), establishing cooperation based on real opportunities and interested parties in the Netherlands, offering assistance in case of problems with legislation and customs.
3. (Co-) Organizing missions and visits (Business to Business, Knowledge to Knowledge, Government to Governement) and events such as seminars, matchmaking and network meetings.
4. Holland Branding through various activities with preferably a high profile.
