About the Exhibition

Building with Nature is an exhibition that portrays the possibilities of natural building materials to create a sustainable living environment for future generations. The exhibition’s centerpiece is two houses - a Dutch house and an Indonesian house - scale 1:10, made by Pascal Leboucq and Lucas De Man in collaboration with over 50 designers from both countries. The houses are based on their world-renowned project The Exploded View, which is a house with 100 materials from nature on a scale of 1:1.

The exhibition is not a showcase from the west, it is a collaboration between 2 worlds. Pascal and Lucas, together with the design connectors of Playo (Jakarta), invited designers from all over Indonesia to participate in the exhibition through an open call. Over 20 innovative designers with their materials were selected.   

Witness the Making of

The exhibition is being made as an open atelier, locally at the Erasmus Huis from July 5th till July 11th. So visitors can come to the Erasmus Huis to see the making of, talk with the artists and discover the diverse biobased materials collected from the open call.

Come and Be Inspired. 

After the Grand Opening on July 12th, the exhibition runs until August 27th with students as storytellers to guide the visitors on how we can build with nature and create a sustainable future for all to come. 

The exhibition, open atelier, and grand opening are all free and open to the public. Visitors can come to Erasmus Huis directly without prior registration.

About Company New Heroes

Company New Heroes is a professional creative company using storytelling and imagination to deal with the system change we are all facing. Part of the Company New Heroes is Biobased Creations which focuses on sustainability and creativity. With their creations, they want to redirect the sustainability conversation from “is this possible?” towards “how are we going to do this together and accessible for all?”
