Jan Bade - Regional Migration Coordinator

I work on migration and refugee related matters in the Horn of Africa region, including Ethiopia, Uganda, Sudan, Kenya and Somalia. Forced displacement has since 2015 quickly become a major political and development priority for both European donor countries, the United Nations, and hosting countries. Ethiopia is a priority country now for us on this agenda. The Netherlands co-leads a large programme under the EU-flag called Regional Development and Displacement Programme (RDPP). It finances durable solutions for refugees and host communities in the Horn of Africa with development funds. The Netherlands also rolls-out bilateral migration and refugee programmes in the region. It is a fascinating experience, to be part of the migration and refugee discussion between Africa and Europe. Migration and refugee policies are very much in flux these days, and we try to be a constructive partner in this process.
