TechBBQ

TechBBQ is a non-profit organization that arranges Scandinavia's largest startup, innovation and tech summit.

Back in 2012 a group of tech entrepreneurs met for a BBQ that gathered 150 tech people. It has grown significantly since, and last year TechBBQ had over 8000 attendees for their two-day conference.

The annual summit will take place at Lokomotivværkstedet, in the heart of Copenhagen on 14-15 September 2022. The number of attendees include Danish, other Nordic and international entrepreneurs, as well as investors, innovators, startups, talents, institutions, associations, journalists and corporates – all of whom use TechBBQ to explore new opportunities.

Background

In the pursuit of circular agriculture by 2030 in both Denmark and the Netherlands, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the agriculture ministers of both countries in March 2021 kicking off the 500 year anniversary of Dutch farmers in Denmark and related activities.

In the spirit of the MoU the Embassy of the Netherlands in Copenhagen and the Regional Business Development team (jointly, the Embassy) would like to introduce Dutch innovative solutions to the Danish agrifood ecosystem during TechBBQ by hosting up to 15 Dutch startups and scaleups. Companies will be able to introduce their innovative solutions to interested Danish and international corporations, local investors and a range of potential partners.

In the field of climate-friendly innovation, Denmark and the Netherlands are already important cooperation partners, with similar challenges in the sector and similar climate goals for the future. Participation at TechBBQ offers a unique opportunity to present Dutch startups and their innovative solutions in the areas of Regenerative Agriculture, Robotics Software & Hardware and Alternative Proteins, areas the Danish agrifood ecosystem is currently focusing on (source: Rockstart).

Opportunities for Startups

The startup mission to TechBBQ 2022 is for young, innovative, technology-driven companies with a scalable business model and ambitions to grow quickly. The Dutch delegation will be composed of Dutch Agritech/Foodtech startups that are ready for the next international step in their business and product developments.

TechBBQ is a great opportunity for Dutch startups to:

• Pitch to a range of investors including Venture Capitalists (VCs) and large organizations;
• Expand their international business network;
• Enter into strategic partnerships with other companies to bring products or services to the international market;
• Scale up production with reliable quality partners.

TechBBQ also provides a great setting for unprompted encounters, inspirational presentations and unfiltered networking.

Tuesday 13 September 2022 arrival day	Welcome reception The Dutch ambassador in Copenhagen will host a network drink at her Residence where Dutch startups have the opportunity to present themselves to an exclusive group of invited guests.
Wednesday 14 & Thursday 15 September 2022	TechBBQ NL business lounge at TechBBQ as homebase for all startups and partners during the period of the event as well as promotion of the Netherlands; Following a stage programme (aimed at Agtech/Foodtech startups); A guided tour of TechBBQ; Participating in an event organised by our Danish partners as an introduction to Danish corporate companies in the AgriFood sector; Participating in a tailormade matchmaking session between startups and corporates; Meeting other exhibitors through TechBBQ’s digital matchmaking platform; Participating in networking & drinks.
Friday 16 September 2022	Visit programme Visit to local corporate companies in cooperation with Food Nation Denmark & Food & Biocluster Denmark.

In addition to these targeted activities, the participating startups will be free to explore TechBBQ, presenting themselves and finding interesting/interested partners. The project team will also work with TechBBQ to have relevant content included in the event’s marketing, PR and media work where possible.
