Netherlands Innovation Network India drives Indo-Dutch hydrogen collaboration at India Energy Week 2026
The India Energy Week 2026 in Goa marked an important step forward in Indo-Dutch hydrogen collaboration, with the Netherlands Innovation Network India playing a key role in advancing partnerships through the Goa Hydrogen Valley proposal and the launch of the TNO report on strategic directions for Netherlands–India hydrogen cooperation.
Strong Dutch presence at India Energy Week
Building on the momentum from the Hydrogen Innovation Mission, several Dutch organisations returned to India for India Energy Week, including TNO, University of Groningen, Hydroflexx, REDstack, Nedstack, Bosch Thin Metal Technologies and the Port of Rotterdam. The strong participation, particularly from R&D and technology-focused stakeholders, reflects growing interest from the Netherlands to engage with India’s hydrogen ecosystem and explore opportunities for pilots and scale-up.
Goa Hydrogen Valley proposal gains traction
During the event, a Letter of Intent (LoI) was handed over to BITS Pilani University, Goa – a key collaborator for the University of Groningen in India- to support the development of a hydrogen valley, positioning it as the first hydrogen valley in India with an International partner where Netherlands Innovation Network is a founding member. The initiative connects Dutch and Indian partners and focuses on linking production, storage, transport and end-use applications, with a strong emphasis on port-led and industrial use cases.
Launch of TNO strategic report
The launch of the TNO report provided a structured framework for collaboration, identifying key areas such as hydrogen valleys, electrolyzer technologies, materials, storage solutions and system integration, aligned with the Netherlands’ National Technology Strategy.
From pilots to partnerships
Together, these developments signal a shift from dialogue to structured collaboration, supporting pilot projects, joint R&D initiatives and long-term partnerships. For the Netherlands, this creates opportunities to position its innovation strengths in hydrogen technologies, while engaging with India’s scale, demand and growing project pipeline.
The engagements at India Energy Week reinforce the role of the Netherlands Innovation Network India in connecting ecosystems, enabling pilots and shaping long-term Indo-Dutch hydrogen collaboration.
