Organ-on-chip (OoC) and organoid technologies are reshaping our approach to biomedical research, drug development, and personalized medicine by enabling more human-relevant models that can improve predictive power, accelerate innovation, and reduce reliance on animal testing. As demand grows for alternatives to traditional animal models, these technologies are emerging as key enablers of next-generation life sciences. Recognizing their transformative potential, the Netherlands has made OoC and organoids strategic priorities and aims to become a global leader and coordination hub for the development, validation, and adoption of OoC technologies – or the global control point.
