Dutch Delight Summer 2022

As we approach the holiday season, this edition of the Dutch Delight will cover two months. In these coming months lots of cultural activities and festivals will take place in Turkey. including (Dutch) Jazz performances. The IKSV Jazz Festival already started and will continue till July 7. And in August (26-28) Kaş will have a Jazz Festival too. Both programs will have performers of the Netherlands. In this Dutch Delight you can read more.

The next Dutch Delight will be sent in September 2022, the month of the new cultural season. In that edition we will inform you about the upcoming Beyoğlu Film Festival and World Press Photo exhibition.

14 July - 11 Sept: Gümüşlük Festival

Supported by the Embassy and General Consulate of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Turkey, this year the Gümüşlük Festival brings a circus to town ! Three musicians and seven circus artists, all graduates of the Codarts University for Arts in Rotterdam will present the visual sound of circus and the audible movement of music in a one hour performance.  Handstands, Juggling, Chinese Poles, Hula Hoops, Acrobatics and Cyr Wheels come together with music in the magnificent ambience of the Ancient Stone Quarry in Koyunbaba. Don't miss this! 28th August @ 9 pm.

16 - 17 July: Children’s Play, “Ik wil een leeuw”- “Bir Aslan Istiyorum”

Annemarie Van der Eems’ story “Bir Aslan Istiyorum” will be performed by the Sivas Gorsel Sanatlar ve Kultur Dernegi for a young audience. The play will be performed on the 16th of July at Karaman Konya and 17th of July  in Kirikkale.

26 - 28 Aug: Kaş Jazz Festival

Rembrandt Trio is at Kaş Jazz Festival with the live performance of their album “A WIND INVISIBLE SWEEPS US THROUGH THE WORLD”. The album, named after a poem by the 19th century poet Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi; trying to capture the magic and universality of music. He conveys how a common curiosity leads to travel and to combine motifs, themes and experiences from all over the world. See you on the journey of these exquisite notes with the contributions of Gezinomy and the Dutch Consulate.

Until Oct: Reuse, Redevelop and Design exhibition

Old Buildings, New Uses Exhibition moves to Kayseri, Hatay, Izmir and Istanbul

The exhibition Old Buildings, New Uses presents 30 examples (20 Dutch, 10 Turkish) of successful adaptive reuse projects, in which ‘old buildings’ have been adapted to ‘new uses’ in inspiring and sustainable ways with respect for their heritage values. 

Over the summer months, the exhibition will travel to different parts of Turkey. On July 22, the exhibition will open in Kayseri at Abdullah Gül University. On the opening day there will be an event with lectures on the adaptation of former industrial complexes for new uses. The exhibition ends on August 2.

Exhibition will open in Hatay on August 10 (ends 23rd of August), and in Izmir at 31st of August (ends 21st of September)

The exhibition is an initiative of the Netherlands Institute in Turkey and the Netherlands Diplomatic Mission to Turkey. It is built around the Reuse, Redevelop and Design exhibition developed by the National Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands. The selection of Turkish examples was organized by KORDER (Association of Restoration and Conservation Specialists in Turkey). Local partner in Kayseri is the Faculty of Architecture at Abdullah Gül University.

ArtsMap is a digital platform for the fields of arts and culture that aims to develop sustainable dialogues between artists, institutions, non-governmental organizations, public and individuals by using the unifying power of arts and culture. The common goal is to create a cultural and artistic ecosystem which is sustainable and  with the means of networking, capacity building and train the trainers, micro support fund, information sharing and collective projects which is realized  in cooperation with the initiative of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Ankara, the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Istanbul and InogarArt. With this community, which can be registered at www.artsmap.info  cultural, artistic and creative sector actors have the opportunity to build networks and capacity building by being included in an international network.

WoMen of Orange network

WoMen of Orange that was launched in 2018 by the Consulate General in Istanbul, is an interactive platform that supports gender equality by empowering WoMen from various areas of society and connecting them to each other. Dutch Library

A small library with books in the Dutch language is situated at the main entrance of the consulate. On appointment, every 4th Tuesday of the month, between 11:00 hrs – 14:00 hrs, Dutch books can be borrowed there for a fee of 5 TL per book. From Dutch Business Association to NL Business Hub Istanbul

The Dutch Business Association Turkey (DBA Turkey) is a non-profit Association, founded in 2014, with the objective to promote, enhance and support business and investments between the Netherlands and Turkey. They connect the professionals of their Dutch and Turkish members during high level forums, presentations, monthly webinars and networking events to exchange information, knowledge and best practices across different industries. The ultimate objective is to promote bilateral business.

Since January 2021 the Dutch Business Association is the NL Business Hub Istanbul. NL in Business is an initiative of VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland to support Dutch small and medium-sized enterprises in their first steps abroad. De Nederlandse School Istanbul (DNSI)

Dutch language and culture lessons - DNSI

DNSI offers Dutch language and culture education for Dutch and Flemish children from 3 up to 18 years old. Qualified and experienced teachers provide primary and secondary education programs on Saturday in Istinye. At DNSI you can also obtain the Certificate of Dutch as a Foreign Language (level B2), which is required to study at a large number of Dutch universities and colleges. For children who do not yet speak enough Dutch, there is a "Dutch as Extra Language" lesson program. And for children who follow day classes at an international school in Istanbul, there is the possibility to take our classes as an 'After School Activity'. 

Dutch language courses for adults and integration exam

Would you or your partner like to learn Dutch? We are currently developing Dutch language courses for adults in Istanbul. Please email us for more information. You can obtain a Certificate Dutch as a Foreign Language (CNaVT) from DNSI. With a certificate at a minimum of A2 level (jan 2022 level B1) you can obtain an exemption from the Dutch component of the integration exam (Inburgeringsexamen).

Nederlandse Taal en Cultuurschool (NTC) Ankara – De Oranje Klomp

NTC Ankara - De Oranje Klomp is a primary school established in 2007 and has provided education for Dutch and Flemish children in Ankara ever since.  De Oranje Klomp provides full Dutch education and its curriculum is based on the curriculum of the Dutch primary schools. This enables the children to enter Dutch schools without any problem if they go back to the Netherlands.

NTC Ankara – De Oranje Klomp welcomes all the childeren who are interested in Dutch education or the Dutch language.
