Curfew in Sri Lanka and hotline for tourists
In Sri Lanka a curfew has been imposed. Tourists can call a special hotline for information regarding the curfew, transport to the airport or the coronavirus.
The ongoing curfew in districts of Colombo, Gampaha and Puttalam has been extended till 6.00am on Tuesday (24/03). In the districts curfew will be re-imposed at 2pm the same day until further notice.
Curfew in the other districts will be lifted at 6.00am on Monday (23/03) and will come to effect again on 2pm the same day. This will be effective till 6.00am on Tuesday (24/03).
A curfew means that you are not allowed on the street and should stay in your house, apartment or hotel.
You are exempted if you need to travel to the airport to leave the country. Please have your travel reservation or tickets and passport ready at all times.
Please keep in mind that there will be fewer taxis and busses available, so book one well in advance. Perhaps your hotel can be of assistance.
Questions regarding transport to the airport and other questions related to COVID-19 can be directed to the hotline 1912. The local authorities have set up this hotline for tourists to be able to better assist them.
In case of emergency Dutch citizens can call the 24/7 BZ Information Service in the Netherlands through +31 247 247 247.
