Partners for International Business: Waste and circular economy Indonesia – the Netherlands

On 1st October, the six Dutch companies and the Open University signed a Partners for International Business (PIB) project agreement with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO): PIB Waste and Circular Economy Indonesia – the Netherlands.

The venue was the innovative headquarters of the company Afvalzorg, built on top of a closed landfill in Assendelft. According to the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Indonesian Embassy in the Netherlands Mr. Fikry Cassidy, this initiative could not have come at a better moment. The Indonesian Government wants to cut waste output by 30% and recycle the remainder by 2025. International cooperation and business will help to achieve this.

Signatories to the PIB agreement are Afvalzorg, AWECT, HYVA, Hofstetter, Leapfrog/De Afvalspiegel and Trisoplast/Multriwell. The PIB cluster will coordinate closely with the ongoing Private Sector Development initiative of Rijkswaterstaat (the executive agency of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management) in Climate, Waste and Circular Economy. From 11 to 15 November the first business mission will be undertaken to the 3rd Indonesia Circular Economy Forum in Jakarta, followed by a roadshow to Surabaya.
