Visa applications in Canada via VFS Global

From the end of June 2019 you will be able to apply for a visa for the Netherlands or the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom via VFS Global offices in Toronto (20 June), Vancouver (24 June) and Edmonton (27 June).

External service providers

Our external service provider, VFS Global, will forward your application to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Netherlands. It will be the ministry that assesses your application.

VFS Global will charge an extra service fee of CAD 45 in addition to the regular fee charged for a Schengen visa or Caribbean visa.

Making an appointment

If you live in Canada and want to apply for a visa for the Netherlands, Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, St Eustatius or St Maarten, you can make an appointment online.

You will also still be able to submit your visa application to the embassy in Ottawa or the consulates-general in Toronto and Vancouver.

Improved visa service

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is using external service providers to open more and more front desks in locations closer to customers. It is also keen to digitalise the application process wherever possible. In the future, this will allow applicants to complete more stages of the application process from the comfort of their own home, such as uploading scans of the required supporting documents, paying online and making an appointment to provide fingerprints. This will make the visa application process better, simpler and more modern.
