Visit of Rotterdam Public Order and Safety Triangle to Albania
A high level delegation, also known as the Rotterdam Public Order and Safety Triangle, led by the Mayor of Rotterdam, Ahmed Aboutaleb, will be in Albania for an official visit from 2- 6 November 2017. The Rotterdam Chief of Police (Frank Paauw), Chief Prosecutor of the Rotterdam Justice Department (Marc van Nimwegen), Director Aviation at the Headquarters Royal Marechaussee, Ministry of Defence (Brig.Gen. Pieter Simpelaar) are other members of the delegation.
The focus of their visit will be the fight against illegal migration, human trafficking and organized crime. The delegation will meet with different government and non-government stakeholders regarding these topics, among which the Minister of the Interior and the Mayor of Tirana. The delegation will also visit their counterparts in Shkoder and Durres, as well as the Durres harbour.
They aim to get an understanding of the situation in Albania with regard to the drivers that pursue Albanian citizens on the risky paths of illegal migration. Together with the International Organization for Migration the Netherlands and Albania organise an information campaign about this topic in the country.
Further cooperation at all levels between the Dutch and Albanian authorities to tackle organized crime is another aim of the visit.
