The Embassy of the Netherlands in discussion with the Halal Products Assurance Agency (BPJPH).
The Indonesian Halal Products Assurance Agency (in Bahasa Indonesia shortened as BPJPH) now has a new leader. Prof. Sukoso is since early August 2017 inaugurated as the chief of BPJPH under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. BPJPH is the main administrator of the Halal certification process. It issues Halal Certificates of products entering, traded and distributed in Indonesia. BPJPH at the national level will be working closely with Halal Auditing Bodies to be established at local or regional basis all over Indonesia.
On 25 August 2017, the Netherlands Embassy paid a courtesy call to the BPJPH new leader. Siebe Schuur, Head of Economic Department and Lucie Wassink, Agriculture Counselor discussed on the current Halal certification procedures and ways forward.
The courtesy call to Prof. Sukoso is part of the preparation of the visit of Director General Agro and Nature of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Netherlands to Indonesia that will take place on 29-31 August 2017. DG Sonnema will co-chair the 19th meeting of Working Group on Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Republic of Indonesia.
Both sides hope that this initial meeting is the path for a solid foundation of constructive bilateral relations between the two countries on halal issues.
