Open Day Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands

On Saturday 24 June, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands opens her doors to give visitors a unique and fun insight in the importance of sustainability.

With consumption growing worldwide, the demand for natural resources is also increasing. To avoid causing irreversible damage to our environment, we need to change our consumption and production patterns. The Netherlands believes that by working together we can create more sustainable economies which have less impact on the environment.

For this year’s Open Day the Embassy partners up with Thirst (渴望宣言), The Bulk House (好思出品), Live with Less (简生活) and Neso (荷兰高等教育国际交流协会中国办公室) – NANC to show how every individual can contribute to a more sustainable future.

Thirst is organizing several activities for children to raise awareness to the global water crisis. Learn how to filter water, guess how much water is used to make one T-shirt and make a water wish for the future!

Live with Less will organize a swap market. Visitors are invited to bring things they no longer use. At the same time they are invited to take what they need from the swap market for free.

The Bulk House will show visitors simple tips and tricks how to lessen consumption by reducing, reusing and repairing. This presentation is followed by a composting workshop to show how even waste can be recycled.
