Succesfull Education Technology Trade Mission
From the 14th until the 19th of November 2016, four Education Technology companies from the Netherlands visited Kuala Lumpur. Asthe “The Dutch School”, they exhibited at BETT Asia to meet the local stakeholder in order to expand their business to the region.
At BETT Asia, where over 60 companies from Asia and beyond presented their newest education technology, the Dutch pavilion was the second largest country pavilion. Parallel to the expo the BETT Asia Leadership Summit took place, where Netherlands Ambassador Karin Mössenlechner participated in a panel discussion on the changing role of education through technology. She elaborated on Dutch ways of preparing youth for the future and how to help them today to gain the skills they need for the jobs of the future.
Two of the participating Dutch companies, Iamprogrez and SOWISO were shortlisted for the BETT Asia Higher Education Innovation Award. After impressive pitches from both companies on the first day of the expo, during the award ceremony on the second day Iamprogrez was presented with the Award for their innovative gamified assessment method.
On Thursday, after two intensive days at the expo, the delegation visited IDEAS academy, a school for refugee and underprivileged children. Here they spoke with members of the board, got a tour from the principal and gave a guest lesson in computer programming. During this lesson the students programmed their first game.
During the afternoon a luncheon was hosted at the Ambassadors’ Residence where the Dutch companies once more presented their educational technology solutions and met with relevant stakeholders from Malaysia.
