20th anniversary Malaysian Dutch Business Council and Sustainability Awards
On October 6th the Malasyian Dutch Business Council (MDBC) organized the 5th edition of the MDBC Sustainability Awards (MSA), co-hosted by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The theme of this edition was Circular Economy.
Companies could apply for two categories: the Greenhorn award (for best circular economy initiative) or the Elite award (for best overall circular economy drive). During the afternoon programme the shortlisted companies in both categories had to make a pitch before a panel of judges and an expert audience.
The winner of the Greenhorn Award is Energytransformers transforms residuals of agricultural activities into energy. They procure, produce and provide Solid Biofuel and BioChar. The winner of the Elite Award is Teleplan, a leading after-market supply chain solutions provider.
In the evening the MSA Awards Ceremony was handed out by the Secretary General of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry Dato' Jayasiri Jayasena and the 20th anniversary of the MDBC was celebrated during a festive dinner at the Westin Kuala Lumpur. During her speech ambassador-designate Karin Mössenlechner thanked the MDBC for the past two decades and said she looked forward to a continuation of the future cooperation with the embassy. Furthermore she complimented all participants of the MSA and specifically the winners of the awards and stressed the urgency of moving towards a completely circular economy: “We owe it to the next generation. Businesses are key. Today has shown that sustainability sells.”
